Description

The Bible reveals in several places that God’s heart toward the spiritual nourishment and faith formation of children first begins in the home by parents and caretakers who are a part of the people of God (Deuteronomy 4:9; 6:1–9; Psalm 78:1–8; Proverbs 1–9; 22:6; Ephesians 6:1–4). Though many Bible-believing Christians would not deny such clear biblical exhortations, the pastors of local churches must go further than merely agreeing with what the Bible says, to in addition, building sound and faithful ministry oversight around the care and equipping of parents so they may be helped in fulfilling their responsibilities that God has given them within the home.

Blair Robinson, D.Min., is the lead pastor of the First Baptist Church of Irving, Texas. He is the coauthor of Equipping Fathers to Lead Family Worship (2021). Robinson is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University (B.S., M.Ed.) and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.A., D.Min.). Prior to serving at First Irving, he most recently served as the associate pastor of Christ Covenant Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. His passion for local church ministry is to see the church consistently grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to encourage families to raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Blair and his wife Lauren have three children (Abel, Titus, and Abi Ruth).
